Brush with a World Champion
In the summer of 2016, I was delivering a workshop for a client in Salt Lake City, UT. One afternoon, I had some time to kill, and ventured up to Park Cities, UT, to see the town which hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics.
As many of you know, I am also an avid cycling fan. While checking out Park City, I looked across the road and spotted a guy sipping a beer with his riding companion, clearly following what I can only imagine was an epic bike ride. Why epic? Because the rider I spotted was fresh off winning yet another Green Jersey (overall points winner) in the 2016 Tour de France & tuning up for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. I had spotted World Champion cyclist Peter Sagan!
Seeing Peter had absolutely NOTHING to do with my decision to ride (for the third time-this will be my first time to RIDE the Oklahoma MS-150, though I had volunteered as the race start announcer three times in the early 2000’s)) in the 2017 MS-150 bike ride, but…it’s a cool story – at least for me and my cycling friends.
