Bicycles and Chamber of Commerce Executives in Hillsboro, Texas
It’s July, and if you’ve followed my posts for a while you know it is the time of year when I watch ridiculous amounts of bike racing as it’s Tour de France month!
When a long-time friend called and asked if I could help her out, however, I set the DVR and hit the road to explore Hillsboro, TX. I know you are probably asking, is that the little “interstate bump in the road” just north of the “Silos of Magnolia“? Why yes…and I can give you a number of reasons to stop by there to check out what’s below the surface. Last Sunday, I slipped into Hillsboro and connected with Vicki Hidde, Director of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. She took me on a driving tour of the county seat of Hill County, and…well…
Did You Know? Hillsboro Texas…
- featured on Daytripper and Texas Country Reporter
- is home to FOUR Museums
- One of the made-over houses from Fixer Upper (You’ve got to see the photos!)
- A surprising amount of industrial facilities
- Some great restaurants (including some killer Tex-Mex and a 50’s style soda-fountain cafe)
- A desireable location (just 30 minutes north of Waco and an hour south of the DFW Metroplex)
- Great small-town charm that you’ll absolutely miss if you only pass through on Interstate 35.
We kicked off Monday morning with a coffee at A Tisket A Tasket , where I had the pleasure of visiting with Chamber members, community leaders and representatives from the area economic development and manufacturing alliance. We had a lively discussion about what these engaged community leaders could be doing to promote their great town. It was a lot of fun.
Over lunch, I had the pleasure of sharing a cycling-themed keynote “More Than One Way To Win” on behalf of the North Texas Chamber Executives. Discussing strategies for leveraging chamber membership to drive tremendous results while maximizing engagement in their communities. My team already has plans in the works for more collaboration with chambers of commerce and communities throughout Texas and Oklahoma to offer additional programs and workshops that go deeper, get real and truly shift communities from “best kept secret” to “cities of choice” for commerce and lifestyle!
Now…when am I coming to YOUR city?
